The .xpi file extension is one of those very few cases, rarely come across, having only one single program that corresponds to it. That program is Mozilla Firefox, an open source and completely free web browser that many individuals have found to be more stable, secure, and fast operating than its behemoth rival, the Microsoft Windows web browser called Internet Explorer. A large part of the reason that Internet Explorer has such a large market share is because it comes pre-installed on Microsoft's operating system, which is the most widely used computing environment on the market today, although in recent years their share of the market has diminished in the face of growing support and popularity of alternatives.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

Hello FileCure folks:
I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

Aside from the benefits previously mentioned, Firefox also has quite a bit of functionality simply not present or available in the default Microsoft web browser. The most flexible, powerful, and well developed functionality in Firefox that is absent from Internet Explorer is called the Firefox 'extension.' These extensions act as modular programs intended to integrate with the existing functionality of a typical web browser, while at the same time enhancing or expanding it in some way. Basically, if there is a specific feature that the public wants that isn't contained in the normal installation, the community of open source software developers across the world use the internet to collaborate on an extension which will provide that functionality. In many cases though, the extension can be developed and completed by a single individual. The open source nature of the software is what makes this possible; it means that whoever so wishes can examine and indeed change the mechanics of the code which makes up the software itself. This encourages continued development, and helps to ensure that the software will meet the needs of its users long into the future with little further input from the initial developers of the browser.
As you can imagine, since essentially anyone can make their own extension, there are a great many of them available and are as different as the people who create them. Take for example, the user of a computer that was donated to him or her may not have the most cutting edge hardware available to them, making their system resources limited. In this case, the user may want to avoid having to view the numerous Flash ads and interactive media that have permeated websites across the world as time has gone on. This is not possible with a fresh install of Firefox, but the user has the ability to download and install an extension that will block all Flash files which are displayed on a given web page, as well as selectively enable single Flash objects at their discretion. Since Flash is very CPU intensive, disabling it may free up enough processing power to enable the user to multitask in a situation they were not able to do so previously. For a better idea of what is offered, there are extensions that integrate with social media sites like YouTube, various email providers, pop-up blockers, and even one that opens an emulated Internet Explorer browser for those rare instances when you need to be using Internet Explorer to view a page correctly; some pages are designed with a specific browser in mind, although this is becoming less and less common.
Since an .xpi extension can only be one thing, an extension for Firefox, if you download one of these files you can be certain that it is meant to be opened and installed with Firefox alone. If you've just downloaded a must have extension and are ready to install, simply drag it to any open Firefox window. A confirmation dialogue will appear, and installation takes place immediately and quickly. Once installed, the initial file you downloaded can be deleted. If you receive an error, first make sure that there was no data loss when you downloaded the extension. The best way to do this is to download the extension again, and if this doesn't work, find a different source for the file; it is possibly corrupted on the server you are attempting to retrieve it from. Only download these files from trusted sources! To be totally safe, use the extension browser from within Firefox itself, or download from their servers only.
